The Acting Body Dances
(5 day Lab)
In this laboratory, you will dive into a part of my choreographic research that explores storytelling body languages and fictional character creation through physical tasks, emotional states, inner motivations, thought processes and physical improvisations. During these 4 days, you will work alone, with a partner, and in a group. You will get to know the concept of the holistic and fragmented body, that forms the base of our movement language research.
Furthermore, we will explore the translation of emotional states into physical states and into movement, and vice versa. We will work with guided physical tasks, in order for you to discover your own character movement language. We will touch base with physical patterns and physical exhaustion, and use a writing practice to process and contextualise.
Get to know your character through how your own body responds! Create a psychologically rich and complex character and, also, physically dynamic, expressive and urgent movement language; always in a constant transformation between physical and psychological states!

Over the past ten years I have been working at the intersection between acting and dancing: As a performer I was working in dance theatre and theatre, as well choreographing and directing movement for theatre plays. I believe that combining both, psychological and physical approaches is leading to a more well-rounded, expressive and nuanced character.
During these 5 days you will move, dance, research, question, reflect and exchange in an intimate space.
This laboratory is open to only 12 professional dancers. As there is a limited availability for the reduced price, there will be a short selection process. Please send a link to a short video of you dancing/performing and a few lines why you are interested in attending this laboratory.
